Pride is not only one time of the year, its a spark for every day of our lives! Several days ago Transgender teen Andii Vivero was voted Prom Queen in her Miami High School. Now she's taken that glorious crown home to the web and created a beautiful "It Gets Better" video sponsored by the Trevor Project. Check it Out!

Okay - how old is Andi? What high school is this--for 30 year olds? I get that Andi's transgendered and that boob jobs cost money - so it makes financial sense to get the big girl size from jump...but I would have a hard time as Andi's parent (or my own daughter) with that rack and a half she bought. I don't think teens should have plastic surgery - in the trans case, I know that it's not just cosmetic but I don't know...maybe ramp up to vavavoom instead of starting out so vixenish?
ReplyDeleteAs for the content - I'm glad Andi highlighted how blessed we all are to live in this country. We focus often on our failings that we forget how progressive we are and that we always strive to be better. I'm glad Andi found such acceptance among a young set like she has. They learn more by being kind to a friend than anyone can teach in a PSA.
30 year olds? LOL! You are funny! He attends MacFatter High School in Miami. Andii is 17 years old. There's more information on him in the provided link.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the 'vixenish' child rearing concern of yours, I would have to agree to disagree... I don't think most mother's wouldn't know where to begin to support their child's transgender life and apply rearing. Though as for any child either vixen or gigalo in the the making, its not a very healthy approach to life to let the child/teen to walk in from the start.
I concur with your sentiments in your last paragraph. Well said! We all need role models in life that we track back our lives too. Or aspire to be like. Especially in minority groups like Transgenders.
