Gov. Cuomo's gay marriage bill easily passed in the Assembly late Wednesday night; now it up to Senate to decide. The vote appears to be tied with at least two Republicans on the fence. In a article for The Washington Post, Gov. Cuomo states "The vote by the state Assembly has moved New York one step closer to making marriage equality a reality,” Cuomo said after the 9:15 p.m. vote in the fourth to last day of session. “I applaud these legislators’ prompt and courageous support on this measure, which will finally allow same-sex couples the freedom to marry and provide them with hundreds of rights that others take for granted.”
The vote could happen Thursday or Friday. We need to contact our Senators and let our voices be heard!!
